Sound Collages with John Brennan

A New Path to the Waterfall welcomed sound artist, drummer and curator John Brennan into the classroom as part of  the sound of a cactus being touched by a raindrop.

After collecting a variety of different sounds through field recordings at UBC and Maplewood Flats, Ms. Persoon’s students collaborated with John to create short sound collages.

Students chose from a selection of samples taken from the field recordings and worked with John to loop, filter and add effects to the sounds. The sound collages created will be presented as part of the public presentation of  the sound of a cactus being touched by a raindrop, a communal listening event inspired by the early days of radio broadcasting.
